Christian Education at NGCC
The Christian Education program is run by a dedicated group of volunteer teachers
from the congregation under the guidance of our CE Director.
We have said "good-bye" to the outdated lesson pamphlets of the past and have embraced a
bold, exciting and creative way of teaching children about God, Jesus and the Bible.
Using a Workshop Rotation Model, classes are grouped in age ranges and offer
a wide variety of kinesthetic learning experiences-
that is, learning through physical activity rather than sitting still and listening to a teacher.
We focus on one Bible Story or faith value for an average of four weeks.
Children gain an intimate understanding of the Bible story as they explore
its significance each week in a different way.
We have complete rooms dedicated to different kinesthetic experiences through drama, art, games,
media and technology:
HolyWord Productions provides the opportunity for participants to explore Bible Stories and faith
through skits, plays and interviews from our NGCC NewsDesk!
Creation Station where you never know what might happen on a Sunday!
We are all about hands on and often about MESSY!
Disciple’s Adventures provides a space for kids to play a game based on the Bible Story,
build a story component with Legos or try out a science experiment in Lazarus’ Lab!
Grotto Lounge provides a place for watching movies that pertain to our Bible story.
It is also just a cozy place to kick back and share thoughts.
The variety and interactive format of our lessons allows us to adapt to the needs of all learners.
We know that not all children are budding actors or painters;
our wide array of activities provides a balance of preferred activities for each student.
Our volunteer and professional staff is trained to be in tuned with the needs of our children and youth
and we value their input on class format.
are offered every other year to high school students.
The teens meet for a monthly group session which is followed up with a one-on-one mentor meeting.
Mentors are volunteers from the congregation.
Confirmand and mentors are matched in an effort to widen the youths' contacts within the church
and also provide a safe sounding board for the teens as they navigate their distinctive faith journey.
After completing confirmation classes, teens are free to make a decision about becoming members of the church.
Our high school students remain active in leadership roles within the congregation
and enjoy spending time together in SPARK Senior Youth Group.
