The Crosby Fund for Haitian Education

Picture
As you may know, Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. More  than 55% of the adults are illiterate, less than 15% of Haitian students  graduate from high school, and only 3 % (of that 15%) go on to
higher education.  Without any possibility to go to school, most young people spend their life on the street with no opportunity for employment - literally with no future.

More than ever, it is clear that the rebuilding of Haiti must focus on education.  The future of Haiti depends on its youth.  This year the Crosby fund will support 336 students with full scholarships for primary, secondary, technical and university education.  We hope you will join our efforts to help these students with their education.

Church World Service
Church World Service (CWS) was founded in 1946 and is a cooperative ministry of 37 Christian denominations and communions, providing sustainable self-help, development, disaster relief, and refugee assistance around the world. Their mission is to transform communities around the globe through just and sustainable responses to hunger, poverty, displacement, and disaster. For 75 years, cultivating local relationships to build resilience has been at the heart of CWS's mission.

One Great Hour of Sharing

One Great Hour of Sharing is an important mission offering of the United Church of Christ that carries God’s message of love and hope to people in crisis. The UCC works with international partners to provide sources of clean water, food, education and health care, small business micro-credit, advocacy and resettlement for refugees and displaced persons, and emergency relief and rehabilitation. One Great Hour of Sharing also supports domestic and international ministries for disaster preparedness and response.

OCWM began back in 1948, when Bishop Henry Knox Sherrill, Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, set a goal of one million dollars per year for the Presiding Bishop's Fund for world relief. On Nationwide radio, he challenged the Christian brothers and sisters of his community to raise “one million dollars in one hour.” And they did!”
