The North Guilford Congregational Church/United Church of Christ, an historic and vibrant congregation nestled in the scenic hills of Guilford, CT is in search of an Organist/ Accompanist to enrich our worship services and support our choirs through collaborative, thoughtful and spirit-filled music.
About Our Organ: We love our organ! Built for us by the Peragallo Organ Company, it is a two manual, 12-rank organ with a midi, and is also connected to an electronic carillon.
Position Summary:
The Organist/Accompanist will provide music for Sunday worship services throughout the year and accompany the Adult Choir during its September–June season. This position does not include choir direction.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Provide organ and/or keyboard music for all Sunday morning worship services, including:
- Prelude, postlude, hymn accompaniment, offertory, and other service music
- Provide music for Maundy Thursday and Christmas Eve services
- Collaborate with the Pastor and Music Director (if applicable) to coordinate musical selections aligned with the liturgical calendar
- Accompany the Adult Choir during:
- Sunday morning rehearsals and worship services
- Weekly evening rehearsals
- Accompany Youth Choir rehearsals (as scheduled with advance notice)
- With the support of the Music Committee, arrange for and schedule soloists/musicians to provide special music during summer services
Qualifications:
- Strong organ and piano performance skills, especially in a worship setting
- Proficiency in accompanying choral ensembles and congregational singing
- Familiarity with sacred and liturgical music across a range of styles
- Ability to work collaboratively with clergy, choirs, and worship leadership
- Flexibility and reliability in maintaining the weekly music schedule
Compensation:
- Salary $12,000 per year

On March 9, 2014 the NGCC Senior Choir participated in the New Haven East Choir Consociation Festival. Several regional UCC choirs joined voices to raise the roof on First Church Madison just a little bit higher. You can see more photos on our Facebook site.
